8feet outing

8 Feet packed their bags and head to Armidale for the opening of The Armidale Schools Performing Arts Centre. It was a whirlwind weekend with 4 performances in 2 days including a stirring rendition of Van Morrisons “Whenever God” in the local cathedral. 8 Feet were thrilled to be involved in this concert series at such a beautiful new venue. Thanks guys - we had a great time!!

p1000670_2.jpg Another fun night for 8 Feet! We were lucky to attend the Blenders Celebration, as both Dan and Mike have been Blenders as well as 8feeters for many years. After providing some of the evening’s entertainment with our Rock the Boat Medley and Is this Love , it was time for us all to relax and enjoy the evening.

On Saturday 8th November 8FeetThere happily performed at this awesome Brisbane event. Concepted by the Brisbane Songwriters Group and organised by Sheryl Crofts, this community concert at the Jaggera Arts Centre raised over $1600 for the Cancer Council.

Many of us have been touched by cancer directly and indirectly. And there certainly was laughter and tears as local performers shared their ‘wares’ with family, friends and the local community.

8 Feet There loved the atmosphere and the strong sense of community spirit. They pulled out some of their power tunes including their brand new medley (which went OFF) leaving the crowd cheering (very loudly) for more.

Lets hope this is a regular event and that 8 Feet get invited again next time. Until then check out this website www.writersreign.org

My head is still singing and my 2 feet are still tapping from my first 8 Feet performance last night to the most welcoming audience of Tongues of Fire in Brisbane. Following an afternoon of first-timer nerves I met up with my fellow Feeters as “special guests” at a Tongues of Fire rehearsal. We were warmly welcomed into their fold and enjoyed singing ( and tribal dancing) with them, before ending the evening with our performance. It was most exciting, as not only was it my 8 feet debut, but also the debut of 3 new songs for the group. Our first, “My Happiness” was arranged for us by our Mike, and it was wonderful to see many of our audience clapping and singing along with us. We followed this by the beautiful “Beautiful Boy” which brought emotions to the front, not only for our audience but for us as well. A very moving song, sung to some of our own beautiful boys in the audience. A change of pace followed with (my personal favourite) “Is This Love” which got the crowd grooving in their seats.  We finished our set with the classic “That’s the way”.I couldn’t have asked for a warmer audience for my first performance - nothing can describe the feeling of  singing to a crowd who are all smiling and singing along with you enthusiastically. The first of many to follow, I hope!

Well the new lineup 8 Feet There stepped out of the loungeroom and on to the back verandah last weekend. Family and friends gathered together for the Inagural Cupcake Olympics and were treated to our first performance for their trouble! Yes, cupcakes and singing is really hard to take on a sunny Sunday afternoon, we know!

After track and field games in the garden, we retired to the kitchen for decorating of the cupcakes, some tasty friands and even a few chocolate coated strawberries.

Even though Lisa had a cold she was a trooper when it came time to sing some of our favourite tunes including Is this love? Thats the Way, and some old favourites such as gospel song Jerusalem. Lastly Lachlan and Aleisha joined in for a ripping version of My Happiness.. wait til you hear this one folks.. stay tuned for when and where our next performance will be …

We stepped out of the loungeroom and onto the stage again yesterday at the Gold Coast Show, George Martin Stage. It was a really nice stage in an area with lots of food venues so people were sitting around munching on the traditional Pluto Pups and drinking cups of coffee. It was right on sunset when we set out to WOW the audience with our 4 songs and I must say the sound guy looked very relieved that we had no instruments to plug in after having had lots of problems through the day!

It was good to be on stage again and we were feeling particularly inspired after seeing the Idea of North last night! We started off with Denko - Tanna always does an amazing job opening with this song! We also sang Kingdom of Shy, Take A Chance on Me and finished with Thats the Way, just as the last of the daylight was fading.

We had loud cheers from our groupies - thanks Sue and Patty! We also had an enthusiastic young man dancing down the front of the stage which was very encouraging!

Afterwards - Tanna headed off to see powderchair, Mike and Dan went off to a Meta4 rehearsal and after two rides on the Cha Cha I came home to a nice glass of champagne, very contented even if a little bruised!

Hope to see you out and about soon!

Love,

Jacqui
